[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] ifc removed from routing

xopr123@mot.com (Michael 'Ninja Raccoon' Lind) (09/14/90)

Does anybody know what it means if the following message shows up
in a debug routing log file:

RT: interface Serial1 removed from routing table

While looking at a log file on an unrelated problem, I found
this message. Usually it came with:

Serialx: changed state to down

What was strange to me was when the RT: message appeared and didn't
come with the interface down message. No SNMP linkdown traps were
generated with the first message, but they always came with the
second message.

My main question is: Does the first message mean that no traffic
will be routed through that interface until it is returned to the
routing table? Does the first message mean that the link has gone
down or something else?

Thanks in advance,
Michael Lind
