We had a recent problem with a Cabletron LR2000, where no host on one
side of the repeater could talk to a cisco on the other side. Everything
else worked just fine. We replaced the MCI card in the cisco with
one containing version 1.7 of the microcode and everything cleared up.
We use a lot of ciscos and a lot of cabletron repeaters and it only
happened in this one case.

I had read something earlier about 1.7 taking care of "dribble" bits,
which were added onto packets as they passed through some repeaters. These
are (were) counted as framing errors and ignored, in 1.7 the cisco
takes them in as good packets.

I'm pretty sure you will get mail back from cisco, probably mentioning
something similar.
