We have a 14 port cisco brouter that is bridging LAT and one other Ethernet type. It was decided to put the interfaces in two spanning tree groups (1 and 2). I suspect this is causing us some grief (it was not my decision to do this, but I am now involved with getting their network working). Namely, I noticed that (coincidentally or otherwise) only hosts on cisco interfaces get bridged. However, my sampling of hosts is small and could likely be misleading. Any ideas? If none (or even otherwise) could someone explain what spanning tree groups do for me, the network and the universe? Appreciate the help... Dave Wiltzius LLNL wiltzius@lll-crg.llnl.gov
