[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] Anyone using NCSA 2.3 telnet for the Mac hacked by cisco to support SLIP?

bschmidt@bnr.ca (Ben Schmidt) (10/17/90)

There's a hacked copy of NCSA 2.3 telnet for the mac which supports SLIP
at ftp.cisco.com. Trouble is yah gotta fire up a separate terminal
emulator to set up the SLIP call first. Is anyone using this, and if so,
what terminal emulator(s) are you using?

I've tried MacKermit 0.98(63) [neat version number eh?, guess it's
asymptotically approaching version 1.0!]. Anyway MacKermit 0.98(63) has
an option to hold up DTR upon quitting, as well as a menu item to transfer
directly to another application. Tried to use these features to set up
the SLIP connection and then transfer to cisco's telnet, with no luck.
DTR dropped anyway, so when the cisco telnet fired up, the terminal server
connection was gone.

I tried making the connection to the terminal server with MacKermit
and again typing SLIP, but this time sliding over to cisco telnet under
Multifinder while leaving MacKermit running. When I opened a telnet
session I was able to get a window for the session, but all the data went
into the kermit session which was still running in the background!

thx in advance,
