[ Questions :=> Jeff <paine@cisco.com> ] WASHINGTON, Jan 29, 1991 Cisco Systems, Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.), today announced the signing of an agreement with Brixton Systems, Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.), wherein Brixton will supply Cisco with IBM routing and network management software for use in Cisco's complete line of internetworking router/bridges. Under the terms of the multiyear agreement, Cisco will initially acquire two key pieces of source code from Brixton--a full SNA routing implementation based on Brixton's IBM emulation software; and an interface to NetView, IBM's corporate network management system. Cisco will integrate Brixton's FEPR (front-end processor router) technology into Cisco's existing and future products, allowing users to create a single, common-access corporate network that can carry both SNA traffic and other protocols--such as TCP/IP, OSI, DECnet, IPX, AppleTalk -- that previously were supported by separate networks. .... boilerplate deleted ..........
