Hi, We are connecting to BARRNet soon but we now have a possible requirement to also connect to MILNET. I would like to use the following configuration: Loral WDL Ethernet __________________________________________ | | | ---------- ---------- ---------- | cisco | | cisco | | ciscos | | to | | to | |to other| | BARRNet| | MILNET | |Lorals | ---------- ---------- ---------- I would like to know how will the ciscos figure out what router to send packets to?? Since MILNET charges by packets now, our customer will not want to pay for our regular INTERNET data going out over MILNET. We would like to propose this type of configuration because I think we would all admit that NSFNet - MILNET connectivity is real bad. We need reliable connections for our INTERNET traffic and also for our MILNET requirements. Has anyone done this ??? Does it work ???? I'm guessing that the "core gateways" on the MILNET would route data for us over the MILNET connection and that the NSS's on the NSFNet would route data to us over our BARRNet connection. How would our network decide which network to send MILNET data to ?? If it was a network 26 destination thats easy but with all the MILNET backsides with ciscos, I think routing could get confused. I see that the NIC has what appears to be this type of connection (according to the latest BARRNet Map). Any information would be greatly appreciated. ========================================================================= -- Bill Lewandowski LORAL Western Development Labs (408) 473-4362 Internet: wrl@wdl1.wdl.loral.com FAX: (408) 473-7926 UUCP: wdl1!wrl
