[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] SMT version

I heard SMT 7.0 will be released in May by ANSI. Do Cisco customers
have to upgrade their FDDI boards. I just got my two boards last
month. Is it going to cost me to upgrade them ?

My understanding is that in May the SMT working group will *try*
to have a new SMT document available for use by the members of the working
group. This document will be the basis for SMT 7.0. I believe the official
SMT 7.0 document will be completed sometime this summer. It must then go
out for letter ballot, comments answered, etc, etc, before it is an ANSI
spec.

I'm probably out of line here and should let cisco give the official
answer here but..........I don't believe there should be any cisco FDDI
hardware changes for SMT 7.0 it should just require new firmware. I imagine
it will be 8.x or knowing the ANSI FDDI committee 10.x.
