[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] No memory available on a STS-10x

kla@kampi.hut.fi (Kimmo Laaksonen) (04/18/91)

After some uptime (a week, perhaps less) our STS-10x's reach this
state. If I try to do 'show conf', 'write term' &c, I get that
message. 'conf terminal' seems to work, but I can't save the
configuration, since 'write memory' gives the same error message.

I'm running 8.2(2) from ftp.cisco.com, because we had some trouble
with 8.2(1) in the ROM. (Line defaults not getting reset when user
quits, No memory available (!); both are corrected according to the
release notes - if "System modifications were made to prevent unexpected
memory loss with the STS-10x terminal servers." refers to the same
phenomenon. Line dafaults are getting reset properly - no more funny
settings like no parity, 7 data, 1 stop; I didn't believe this until
I verified it myself.)

Anybody else had "No memory available" on a STS-10x?

PS. Anybody tried the new extended TACACS? I turned it on, got
a validation request and a system reload in my log, then nothing.
Maybe that is because of memory loss, too?
