Is anyone out there using the Apollo Domain routing options of the cisco routers? We are attempting to test the routing ability of a CGS/2-2E router with release 8.2(3) software. The router is (we think) properly configured per the examples in the manual. It recognizes the existence of the Apollo workstations and knows about routes to other networks. We can't however, get a workstation on one side of the router to talk to another one on the other side. I believe the problem is that the Apollo workstations are not configured to use Domain ARP (which is required per the cisco manual). Whenever I ask our local Apollo administrator's or the Apollo support group about Domain ARP, all I get are blank looks like they never heard of such a thing. We are running version 10.3 of Apollo Domain but apparently the default configuration does not enable Domain ARP. If anyone knows how to configure the Apollo's to activate Domain ARP, please respond and send me enough information to pass on to our Apollo administrator to get him looking in the right places. You help is most appreciated. We recently discovered a bug in our Apollo code - if you have IP disabled on an interface, ARP gets turned off (sort of) causing Apollo not to work. If this is your situation, you can work around the problem by assigning an IP address to each interface running apollo - you don't actually have to turn on an IP routing algorithm or use IP, so they don't have to be REAL IP addresses.. As far as I know, ARP is on by default in Domain 10.3. Turning on "debug arp" on the cisco might show some activity (along with "debug apollo", if you haven't tried that yet). However, Apollo systems rarely end up ARPing for the routers - they pick up thenecessary information by snooping on the routing updates. Bill Westfield cisco Systems. -------

I am using Apollo Domain routing quite successfully. I do recall that there are several versions of the cisco software were the Apollo routing is broken. Release 8.2(3) may be one of these releases. I would recommend that you check with customer-service@cisco.com to verify that the Apollo routing is correct at 8.2(3). I have run the Apollo routing with 8.1 and I am currently running an engineering beta test version of 8.2(4). If the 8.2(3) Apollo code is clean, I will be happy to provide my router configuration to you as a sample. Please contact me direct if you desire further assistance. ---Richard
