I've got syslog trapping going to a local Unix host. In the syslog file, I started getting messages like: May 30 20:55:05 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353597: BF: buffer in list, PC=5D294, ptr=A5FC0 May 30 20:55:05 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353598: Process= "Novell SAP", pid= 17, level= 0 May 30 20:55:05 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353599: BF: buffer in list, PC=5D294, ptr=9D238 May 30 20:55:05 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353600: Process= "Novell SAP", pid= 17, level= 0 May 30 20:55:06 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353601: BF: buffer in list, PC=5D294, ptr=A5CDC May 30 20:55:07 cisco.acs.unt.edu 353602: Process= "Novell SAP", pid= 17, level= 0 soon after I turned on Novell routing between our wide-area network router and another router on the other end of a fractional T1 line. Two questions to the net: 1: What is the significance of these messages? Does "BF" stand for "BUFFER FULL"? 2: According to the operators on the Unix system I'm sending this to, all these messages are also being sent to the /dev/console, making it unuseable for any kind of work. (these messages are more or less a steady stream) Here's the entry from the /etc/syslog.conf file: local7.debug /home/cc/sy11/syslog/unt.routers How do I fix it so NONE of these messages ever gets sent to the console? Thanks in advance for any help. -Kevin Mullet Networking and Microcomputer Services University of North Texas Computing Center
