[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] Can't communicate through a router...

kohli@gemed (Jim Kohli) (06/29/91)

I have a perplexing problem where I have two routers as shown:

  +-------+ +------+ +-------+ +-------+
  | | | |---S0---| | | |
  | Hal |---E0----| Here | | There |---E0---| Intel |
  | | | |---S1---| | | |
  +-------+ +------+ +-------+ +-------+

From "Hal," I can telnet directly to "There," but can not telnet
(or ping) directly to "Intel" from Hal. While telnetted to There,
I can ping and telnet to Intel, but the trace command does not respond
(you get rows of asterisks). Hal, Here, and There are all running
RIP and all know about everyone else. The route to Intel is a static
route. There and Intel are on their own subnet, S0 and S1 are
ip unnumbered on both sides. Here and Hal are both on different
subnets.

Show ip route on Here and There shows that everything should be
perfect. There aren't any access lists in use on either Here or
There.

Does anyone know what might keep Intel from responding to communication
outside of its own subnet?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
