They already know about the obvious ones, e.g., a staging area for long space flights, a platform from which to build orbiting structures in space, etc. What they want is some new ideas. The public is invited to drop NASA a line with their ideas. To sweeten the pot, NASA is offering $25,000 to the 16 people coming up with the best ideas. (It was not clear if the 25K is to be awarded to each winner, or divided by 16.) Surely there are a few clever people on the net that have some suggestions floating in the back of their minds. Hint: let us know if you win, but it is probably unwise to post your ideas to the net until after the contest is over.
