[comp.sys.alliant] I/O throttle @ 16 Mbyte under Concentrix 5.5

Hope you boys can help me out. The data reduction system I've constructed
for my client initializes with a single read of 16 to 20+ Mbytes and loads
the disk file into physical memory. Under Concentrix 5.0, the memory fill
rate was constant all the way up to the highwater mark. Approximately
.5 Mbyte/sec could be sustained on the initial read. The OS was just upgraded
to 5.5, and the fill rate is pretty constant upto about 16 Mbytes, but
after this RSZ, the machine seems to dole out physical memory with a spoon,
not the dump truck I need to get on with the reduction process.

It is not uncommon to observe RSZ filling to 16 Mbytes within 30-40
seconds, and then require 15-20 minutes to fill the rest upto 20+ Mbytes!
This situtation, as you can well imagine, is highly undesireable. What
gives? Is there a sysgen parameter that I can tweek to correct this problem?

Also, I noticed that the Swapper runs quite frequently, but my PF/PR count
is really low during the read (we have a system with 32Mbytes of physical).
Why does the swapper keep running if the processes all fit in memory? Why
does the swapper require 45% of the IP, if there is nothing to swap?
