Here are some comparisons between the old card and the new
card. Note, none of these "benchmarks" do loading and
saving of large files which is where the DMA card "shines".
However, it is a starting point. I will be glad to post
other benchmarks that people suggest.

Setup: Apple IIGS ROM 3
2 Megabyte of Memory (Apple IIGS Extended Memory Card)
SCSI Controller Card in Slot 7
1 Apple 3.5 (no disk in drive except for copying and
running AWGS from floppy)
1 Standard GS/OS Installation (Latest System Files
and SCSI Hard Disk options only, no drivers we're deleted to
alter boot time).
System Speed set to Fast
Other Notes: AWGS 1.0v2 is NOT System 5.0 certified by
Claris (whatever that means).
When AWGS required information from the
system disk, access to the hard drive resulted. Loading
AWGS from a 2 floppy system would take longer than the
reported times.
Drive Average Access Time Look Ahead Cache
CT-20 27ms 8KB
CT-40 25ms 8KB
CT-100 19ms 16KB
Discussion of results:
The main reason for the improved performance is the
combination of GS/OS Multi-block read commands and the
Direct Memory Access (DMA) capability of the new SCSI card.
