Maybe Jerry Brown's defeat was a loss to space endeavors, but I can only think that his only contribution to space was to occupy too much of it. Any one who has said he looked to the late, nearly-forgotten Mao as an inspiration is an idiot, no matter that he may happen to be right on ony one other subject. A visionary? No way; Brown contributed as much to personal freedom as Andropov. --arlan andrews, btl/abi, indy.
