[comp.sys.apple2] ZIP chip information?

neufeld@physics.utoronto.ca (Christopher Neufeld) (03/23/90)

Having an Apple ][GS, I tend to ignore postings about the ZIP chip.
Today, though, I was talking with a friend of mine with a ][+ clone, and
I mentioned the existence of this chip. He was quite excited about it, and
asked for more information.
So, could somebody please e-mail me the relevant information?
Particularly:
1) How many components are involved in the upgrade?
2) What is the cost of the upgrade?
3) What final CPU rates and clock rates (if different) are available?
4) Does the RAM on the mother board have to be replaced?
5) Can the computer be operated at 1MHz speed with the chip in place?
6) Does the new CPU pretend to be a 65C02 with the extra opcodes not
present on the ][+, and can the machine run ProDOS with this chip?

   Thank you for your help.
