The following is a press release regarding the SysExGS demo that I will be uploading to comp.binaries.apple2. It's a nice program and the level of support the author has been providing online should be an example to other developers. If you are using your IIGS with your MIDI instruments, or were hoping to, this is the program you have been waiting for. So try the demo, and if you like it, buy the program. The author needs all the support he can get (he's marketing it himself right now, and is having a hard time getting those initial sales to come in. He's starting to get a little disappointed and is wondering if it was worth it). Come on, let's support those who are doing good things with the IIGS. IF we don't, the IIGS WILL SURELY DIE! Disclaimer - I have no business or personal relation to the author of SysExGS. I am merely trying to help him out with the hopes that increased sales will help speed along the development of a version that is compatible with the Casio CZ series of synthesizers (it's a problem with the CZ's, not his software. I have sent him the documentation needed to get it working with the CZ series and he is working on it.) ====================================================================== ANNOUNCING.... SysExGS, the first Desktop System Exclusive MIDI Program designed for the Apple IIGS. Through its graphical interface, users can transfer a large variety of MIDI System Exclusive (SX) messages, including custom patches (i.e. voice or tone data), keyboard sequences, set-up information, and others between MIDI equipment and the Apple IIGS. Users can type in information for each message using the program's built-in text editor, and save each message to disk with a unique name. With this program, users can store and rapidly recall much more information than possible using RAM cartridges or other MIDI storage devices at a fraction of the cost. The program requires GSOS 5.0 or greater, 768K and a MIDI interface (works with Apple/Passport external interface, Passport internal interface, and Audio Animator 's interface). SX messages as large as 32K can be processed. (Except for digital sampling applications, nearly all SX messages are less than 32K. The program does not transmit or receive SX messages containing digital sound samples). SysExGS has been extensively tested and works with nearly all MIDI-capable equipment that supports SX messages, including Yamaha, Roland, Ensonic, Korg, and Kawai. Casio CZ synthesizers are not supported. The program sells for $34.95 and is not copy protected. To order the program, send check or money order to: Lindsay Hough P.O. Box 212 Slingerlands, NY 1215 Users can test out their MIDI equipment before buying the program by ordering a working demo. The demo and 20 - page program manual can be ordered for $5.95, with credit applied toward program purchase. The demo is also available for free downloading on America Online and Compuserve. [and now also on comp.binaries.apple2] The program's author can be reached on either of these bullentin boards (LindsayGS {AO}; 71020, 2247 {CS}). NOTE: This text (SysExGS.Press) can be downloaded from the Apple II Newsletter Exchange folder in the Apple User's Group (AUG) forum of America Online. === Ray Rankins |(518) 387-7340 | INTERNET: rankins@argentina.crd.ge.com 2 Moonglow Rd. |(518) 583-3320 | COMPUSERVE: 71131,3236 Gansevoort, NY 12831 | | AmericaOnline: RayRankins <insert standard disclaimer here>
