Everyone on this news group has been talking about everything to do with
Apple and the software ! Well here it is in the VIEW of an Australian!
If you Guyz (Which Most of you are) in the United States think you have got it
bad, then you should come to Australia. This is what we call BAD.
If you an Australina Apple II user (//e,//c,IIGS) then forget it when
purchasing software. There has not been a new title out here for at least 2
months, when i know there has been HEAPS. The software distributors, are not
taking any notice of the large market.
Australia, follows the European market very close, (that is probably why i am
moving to the states) so in Our retail Stores there are tonnes and tonnes of
IBM and Amiga software. You could fillwhere you could hardly feel a doghouse full
of Apple Software. It is a terrible state down here.
I work for a Computer Store in Sydney and I see lots of new tiltes go in and
out. I own an Apple IIGS, Apple IIE, Apple Mac SE/30 as i have used Apples' for
years on end! Now where is the Sofware??? The Software is not being distributed
in OZ as they (i.e. The Distributors) are not interested. I have hassled so
many of them to get in the Software and they tell me to get Stuffed! Going thru
a current Distributors Price list it shows the Following:
Amiga : 200+ Titles
IBM : 300+ Titles
Atari ST : 100+ Titles
Apple IIE : 5 Titles
Apple IIGS : 1 Title
Apple Macintosh : 20+ Titles
If you have a good read of this, you are probably thinking of what I am
thinking, IT IS DISGUSTING!!!!
And this is not the End of it either. The Other Distributors are the Same!
Apple Has also Stuffed up as well!
Here most people at Apple HQ say " What is an Apple II????"
That is what most people say at Apple HQ wxcept for one man. This man has tried
to push the IIGS into the Australian Market. In Sydney We have a group called
the Apple Users Group, which specialises in Apple products. Theer is two
different groups in this one group, if you get my drift. One is MAc and one is
IIE/IIGS specific.
Here we whinge and throw darts at John Sculley's and Jean Louis Gassee heads
(only Joking), but we do have a whinge. The man from Apple sits in on our
meetings to tell us what is new and if it wasnt for him we all be in the dirt.
Apple Australia Marketing has only one goal, To push the Mac into more places
than any other Computer. Hey wait a minute what about the GS??? Well the GS is
realy not useful in OZ and it is only used a small part in Education (To quote
a guyz words). This is very Pathetic to many people who own GS's as Seeing we
payed about $4000:00 AUS for the bare Basic ROM 3.0 System of:
GS CPU
Analogue Monitor
Two 3.5" Drives
One 5.25" Drive
And that is it!
Well, now you can see why we are all dissapointed in Apple!
Well I have my 2cents worth so it is over to you people now!
