In response to comments by Chun-Yao Liao <mojo!cyliao@MIMSY.UMD.EDU>: [here, one thing to say... the GS DOES stereo, shame on Apple that did not build the stereo line to the headphone jack.] Does anyone ever have fun with the Bose Speakers for the GS? They pick up line noise badly. Guess it's time to line your GS with tin foil! Haha. As for Apple, they *could* have spent the money for 3 transistors, don't you think? In response to comments by Super Dave <thorin!glycine!chen@MCNC.ORG>: [I don't want to be Mr. Nit-Pick, but a 2.8 Mhz machine could easily beat the pants off a 8 Mhz machine. Compare Sun's SPARC vs. Intel's 80386.] With RISC, this is true. A machine built around a CPU like the 65816 could function much faster than an 8 MHz Mac, if it had custom chips for specialty processing (a la Amiga), if it were RISC (especially), etc. But, the GS is born of the Mac mentality, unfortunately. I love the 88000...I'm waiting for a true (not MultiFinder) multitasking RISC Mac. A IIrx, maybe? Moral: A faster clock speed not always means the greatest in performance.
