[comp.sys.apple2] comp.sys.apple2.d

Jeez.

Another 20megs of bandwidth toasted on flamage over gs vs anybody.
I say we create a group called comp.sys.apple2.d, and anybody that
starts anything like this again will get forcefully reminded where
to put it.

I swear, it's worse than watching kids fight over a popsicle...

It is not just the "gs vs anybody" flamage. The "Apple II forever"
and related garbage just clutters up the newsgroup with non-technical,
soap-box material. The comp.sys.apple2.tech vote, which was intended
to deal with this problem, failed for lack of interest.

The jobs group manages to keep resumes in misc.jobs.resumes and job
offers in misc.jobs.offered. Maybe it is time to clean up comp.sys.apple2
in a similar way.

Why don't we officially open the call for discussion on the new group.

You bet. What we really need is talk.apple2 or soc.apple2.

In reply to Jonathan Chandross's response to the discussion of
Apple IIs vs. the other computers, I find it more irritating that
there is very little facts known about the Apple II.. and it being
wracked on all the time. Is there something wrong with defending
a good computer? If we don't stand up for it, who will? I don't see
people complaining about the Mac users who barge in here and
put down the Apple II? Why then, for fellow II users who are just
trying to defend an about-to-be-history computer?

The Personal computer industry started with the Apple II.
The Personal computer industry is also going to END with the Apple II.

I'm afraid it already has ended. With the new PC's, we entered the
COMPUTERIZED PERSONS INDUSTRY, where people do what computers tell them to do.
I rather stick to my Apple II ...

The Mac people would be relegated to comp.lang.apple2.d as well. The
only postings allowed in comp.lang.apple2 would be technical ones, not
"my computer is better than your computer" and "my plans for the Apple
II".

As far as "defending a good computer" goes, this is all bullshit. It
changes nobody's mind and just clutters up the newsgroup. You aren't
going to have your opinion changed and neither is the other guy. Your
defense is not interesting, not wanted, useless, and generally not read.
It just wastes bandwidth and takes up space.

If you persist in treating the newsgroup like some junior-high BBS the
quality will degrade to the point that it is useless. That point has
almost been reached.
