[comp.sys.apple2] Need FTP program

What AppleTalk tools? There's a ton of useful new information (and more
than 2 corrections) in vol. 3 beta, but nothing related to AppleTalk (well,
there's probably some stuff in the Print Mgr chapter, but I doubt that that's
what you're looking for).

I don't recall anything in the beta GS/OS vols, but there may be
something (a quick scan of the chapter and sections for both vols didn't reveal
anything, but it was a mighty quick scan). However, if there is, it's almost
certainly tied to either the SCC Manager (which I don't think you want to do
anything with directly), the AppleTalk driver (same thing), or the AppleShare
thingie (what, driver or FST? I dunno - I haven't used it).

However, the "AppleShare Programmer's Guide for the Apple II" does have
some useful stuff in it. I you're going to be doing AppleTalk stuff on any II,
then you need that puppy. Oh, just remembered, you do need to know how to do
device specific calls to GS/OS to access the stuff through GS/OS, but you can
go direct to the driver once you know that ATalk is around. There's support for
LAP, DDP, NBP, ATP, ZIP, ASP (I assume client-side only), PAP, RPM, and PFI,
with enough call parameter lists to make you ill...

New x-dev tools? The only ones that are new (within the last year) are
things like RezIIgs/DeRezIIgs and improved versions of older tools (I dunno if
DuplicateIIgs is new or not). The assembler is still v1.0.0 (with new
interfaces provided with the beta tools), and the C compiler is v1.0.1 (same
deal on the interfaces). There aren't too many bugs in the things (at least not
that I've found - I _might_ have found one), and I'd be willing to bet that the
folks at Apple and Claris have put them through their paces (given that the
System Software and AppleWorks GS were [at least in their most recent
incarnations] written using them).

Besides, isn't it likely that an AppleTalk network that's connected
to the InterNet would be Mac-infested? In that case, you could just use
existing tools on a borrowed Mac, stick the files you FTP'ed (or whatever'ed)
onto a server, then go back to the gs and bring the files to it from the
server. Granted, it'd be nice not to have to go through the bother, but
still...
