There are a lot of Tetris variants around for all sorts of machines. I've only seen one or two shareware or freeware versions which I consider "faithful" to the original game concept. It's a simple and fun game both to play and to program. With that said, what does Spectrum Holobyte think about all of these games popping up? Are there any restrictions on using the game concept in this way? I presume that someone would be sued if s/he tried to commercialize his/her "Tetris Clone"... has anything happened to the freeware and shareware authors? Anyone with a clue in this matter, please mail me. As far as implementations go, there's the Holobyte version for the //e and for the IIGS, and there's TetroTrix, already mentioned. One game called FourPlay is another derivative (pieces are instead composed of one square with four colors). There used to be an NDA going around called Quadomino, I believe, which is fairly close to the original game, with an option for five-block pieces. Being an NDA, however, sometimes the motion got rather jerky. /;+/ _____________________________________________ / \ _______ | PROLINE : pro-novapple!jonct | _______ |__---__| | UUCP : crash!pro-novapple!jonct | |__---__| { / ### \ | ARPA : crash!pro-novapple!jonct@nosc.mil | / ### \ } |_______|/ INET : jonct@pro-novapple.cts.com \|_______|
