[comp.sys.apple2] Sound Sampler for GS

henigan@quando.quantum.de (Kevin Henigan) (06/05/90)

Hi,

I'm looking for software for the GS that will enable me to copy some
sound ( from cassette ) into the GS's memory, then select parts of the
sound to play. It should allow me to change the sample rate/speed and
change speed and amplitude etc. on playback, and of course allow it to
be record back onto tape.

What software is available that allows me to do this, what hardware
do I need, ( if any, the GS already has an A/D converter ).

Please e-mail or reply here in the newsgroup.

Many Thanks,

Sounds to me like what you might want is the HyperStudio V2.1. It
comes with a microphone, a digitizing board, complete software to
run it along with some demo disks, a small amplified speaker for the
GS, and a whole lot of potential. I have used mine to digitize voices
and it does quite well, allowing me quite a bit of latitude in how I
alter them. They also describe how to digitize sounds from a cassette
player, as you mentioned, though I have not done this yet (for being
to lazy to get a small jack).
HyperStudio is sold by Roger Wagner Publishing and is usually listed
in the discount ads as around $75 or $80. It's well worth the money.
