Just to set the record straight, it appears not to have been a software problem afterall. After a lot of fiddling I discovered that my new FPE only worked reliably in slot 6, not in slots 3 or 1, which I preferred. I've yet to discuss it with Innovative Systems. Now the 64$ problem: how easiest to bypass SANE and go directly to the 68881? The FPE manual is about as cryptic as one can get. TMPLee@dockmaster.ncsc.mil

Strange; are you sure that you changed the INIT file in SYSTEM.SETUP when you changed FPE slots? The INIT is slot-specific. >Now the 64$ problem: how easiest to bypass SANE and go directly to the >68881? The FPE manual is about as cryptic as one can get. Your best bet is to simply use a compiler that generates code to directly access the FPE, as I know Byte Works' compilers do. There are also some examples supplied on the iS software disk that accompanied the FPE.
