[comp.sys.apple2] Generic Character Device Buffering w/ GS/OS

JWANKERL@UTCVM.BITNET ("Josef W. Wankerl") (06/15/90)

Hi.

It's me again.

I am writing a program that requires input from a generic character
device. (Such as an internal modem). My problem is that characters will
arrive at the modem before I can detect them... because the character
device isn't buffered nicely like the built-in serial ports are. I
am using GS/OS to read characters from this device, but I can just as
well use the Text Tool Set -- whichever would solve my problem. I
know I can write an interrupt routine to do this, but I was just
wondering if there was an easier way. PLEEZE let there be an easier
way! So does anybody know anything about the IIGS out there?
