[comp.sys.apple2] GSOS Cache

TTAYLOR@WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL (t. t. taylor) (06/05/90)

Assuming that one has memory to spare, what is an optimal size to
set the cache in GSOS? Is it the larger the better or do most of
the benefits occur at some reasonably small size.

Most of the benefit comes from a fairly small size. The blocks that go in
the cache are usually directory blocks, bitmap blocks, etc--not data blocks.
I'll be surprised if you can easily notice a performance difference once
it gets bigger than about 64K, but feel free to experiment & see.
