Thanks to all who answered my last post about why the modem port and LocalTalk cannot work together. Unfortunately, I did not make myself clear. What I am trying to say is that when the AppleTalk option is turned on, (i.e., by switching Slot 7 to 'AppleTalk'), it interferes seriously with the modem port. Lots of garbage characters appear whenever the modem is logged on to somewhere, till the point that the modem cannot be used at all. This is true even if I set Slot 1 to 'Your Card' and Slot 2 to 'Modem Port', and my AppleTalk cabling plugged into the Printer Port. I think Todd Whitseal had explained why nicely (because the SCC would lose data when an AppleTalk packet comes in), and he has indicated that the only solution is to rewrite the SCC Manager, a task which is certainly beyond me. So, is Apple going to rewrite the SCC Manager so that it can handle AppleTalk packets properly while not interfering with modem communications? Also, is there an equivalent of 'SENDPS' program that is available for the Macintosh (from Adobe) that allows one to download PostScript program files to the LaserWriter to print? I suppose if such a program is available, it would be possible to download PostScript fonts to the LaserWriter from the IIGS too. Thanks in advance.
