[comp.sys.apple2] Kermit problems

max@maxsun.lgc.com (Max Heffler) (07/16/90)

I am still having problems getting Kermit to connect between a Hayes
Smartmodem 2400 at home on a 2GS and any computer at the office with the
Telebit modem answering in Pep tones before standard carrier. I have tried
the several suggestion sent including adding commas after the phone number
and setting S7 to 255 on the modem. In any case, the Apple/Hayes waits
patiently through the Pep tones and then gets no carrier when the standard
212 carrier hits. I really would like to transfer files by some method other
than text capture. I only have kermit on my Sun at the office. What are
my options? Does anybody have X/Y/Z modem working on a Sun that I could get?
Or better yet, does anybody know what is wrong with my Kermit setup?
Thanx in advance...

In my last post about kermit problem I forgot to mention I am using a Super
Serial Card. I did more tests last night with both the Hayes 2400 and a
Telebit Trailblazer Plus. The Hayes still responds NO CARRIER when the
standard carrier is received (it does not have this problem with any of 5
other comm programs tested). I played with TIMING (I am on a IIGS), TIMER,
ATs7=255, commas after the phone number, and everything else I could think of.
I then tried the Telebit and could only talk to it at 4800, 9600, and 19200
baud. It would connect, but I was in a very strange mode where every time
I hit the repeat key, four or so characters of the login prompt would appear.
After hitting the return key about 20 or 30 times, I could get to a login
prompt, but it did not seem to echo (probably all the queued up returns)
Is there any kermit guru out there that can help? Does anyone have a
X/Y/ or ZModem that works on the IIGS that they could post or email to me.
Thanx...
