[comp.sys.apple2] SCREEN BLANK NDA

santini@NADC.NADC.NAVY.MIL (J. Santini) (07/14/90)

Does an NDA exist that will blank the screen after a time (perhaps selectable)
of screen inactivity?
Any information will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is. I just got it working. I'll post it to comp.binaries.apple2
on monday.

I've got a CDA that will blank the screen after a period of inactivity. It's
the Alarm Clock CDA and it's available from America Online and GEnie as well.

Even though it has an alwarm clock feature I only use it to blank my screen
after five minutes. I've been using it a month or so and have not had any
problems with it. I'll post it to comp.binaries.apple2 if enough folks are
interested in it.

Yes, although you might have trouble finding it. It was in a package
called DeskWorks put out by StyleWare in 1987. Claris bought StyleWare
and sold all of the non-AppleWorks stuff to Beagle. Talk to them about
actually getting the package.

A couple of the NDAs in the package (not including the Screen Saver) don't
work with system versions later than 3.1, however.

Well, me and my good friend Jim Maricondo arebusy writing Twilight, the
fully modular CDEV screen saver for the GS (aka After Dark GS.) We think we'll
have it finished around the end of the month, if everything goes well. It'll be
$10 Shareware. Also, we'll distribute the format for a blanker file, so
that if you decide you really want a screensaver that has fish swimming
around, making it look like you put your goldfish bowl in front of the monitor,
YOU can write it! :)

This sounds great. While you are at it, could you write an init/cdev which
has Oscar jumping out of the trashcan whenever it's emptied? The Mac has
this but of course it is in b/w.
