[comp.sys.apple2] Older versions of the Apple IIGS System Disk

crew@pro-harvest.cts.com (Chris Wicklein) (07/21/90)

What is the best version of the Apple IIgs System Disk to use on a ROM 03
GS with a single 5.25" disk ][ drive? I realize this isn't the most desirable
set-up, and I will upgrade to 800K media when I can afford it.

I'm afraid you're limitted to ProDOS 8 until you get an 800k drive. The
minimum amnt of files you need to boot GS/OS won't fit on a 5.25" disk.
The desktop file is about 104k. And counting the GS/OS files and fonts,
etc... Takes up more than the extra 40k that's left of the 5.25" disk.
