My apologies if people end up getting multiple copies of this post, but I've tried in two different ways over the past week and as far as I can tell the post has not gone out. So let's try for take 3... --------------------------- I'm hoping to set up a BBS in about a month on my //e, and I need some help. The modem I hope to use is a Hayes Smartmodem 2400 which I purchased at the Trenton Computer Fair several months ago. Only $25, but no manual. I've just read my BBS manual and have discovered that I REALLY need to know how to configure the modem, which has no dip switches and apparently stores all the configuration data in EEPROM. Now, there's got to be somebody out there who has an actual Smartmodem 2400. I am willing to pay $10 plus photocopying costs of 5 cents per page plus mailing costs to somebody who's willing to do the work of getting me a copy of the manual. I've already bought my BBS software, my clock board, a modem, and now a 20 MB hard drive, and I'd hate to not have things work just because I can't configure the Smartmodem as the documentation describes. I could possibly call Hayes to get a new manual, but since they do things like charge a flat-rate $90 just to repair this modem (you can buy a new 2400 baud Hayes-compatable external for $100), I'm not very optimistic about what they'd ask for a manual. Just send me Email if you can help me out. Thanks very much! Bruce Hahne Cornell University grad student Internet: bruce@mosvax.ee.cornell.edu "Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!" - UHF
