I managed to fit all of the files for the new version of Sound Smith on a single GS/OS disk. However the program crashes into the monitor when the thermometer is about 9/10 full. Soundsmith disk with all tools including tools #32 and #33 (i'm not sure about the numbers but they are on the SYSTEM.TOOLS disk, TOOLS subdirectory. and it works just fine! You don't need tool #33 (videomix), just tool #32 (MIDI interface). I got Sounsmith .94 up and running on a 1.25 meg ROM 1 with 77K to spare (and a deskpicture!) last night. There's a new feature called "play zone" which is damned handy when you are composing. Soundsmith still needs a real editor, however; the current edit window is too cumbersome for serious composing. Has ANYONE EVER gotten SSmith to work on a ROM01 GS w/ 1.2megRAM and one 3.5" drive? It seems EVEYONE is having problems with this thing. I tried putting those two tools (31 & 32?) on, but that did't do it. Someone said you have to INSTALL them, not just copy them into the system folder.. if so, how do you do that ... EXACTLY? P.S. I even tried putting it on my HD and it crashes just the same.
