Is it possible to order from APDA if you're not a member? And if not, how
does one become a member?

I am interested too, and I bet so are alot of people out there. It might
behoove someone to spill the beans on this APDA thing!

Yes, through the "developer express" program you can order CLASS 1 APDA
products without being a member. To order beta stuff, you have to join
for $20/year. Call them up at 1-800-282-APDA & they'll be happy to tell
you about it.

Well, I'm pretty sure it doesn't "behoove" me to "spill the beans on this APDA
thing", but I thought I'd tell you anyway...

From page 3 of the Spring 1990 APDAlog:

Because we recognize that not all customer needs are the same, we are
expanding our services to include a new distribution channel for development
tools. Starting in April, Developer Tools Express will allow anyone to
purchase all final and fully documented versions of Apple's key development
tools, technical references, and third-party products distributed by Apple.
There is no annual fee or subscription requirement to order through Developer
Tools Express. With a product and price list, customers can conveniently and
quickly obtain their development products from Apple. Developer Tools Express
customers do not receive APDA subscription privileges-including the quarterly
APDAlog and accss to important prerelease (beta) versions and other hard-to-find
development products...
