[comp.sys.apple2] Quantum 40Mb hardisk and new CVT SCSI DMA card

mitchell@tci.UUCP (Rob Mitchell) (08/08/90)

Hi Netters,

I just phone ordered the new CVT SCSI DMA card for my
soon-to-purchase Apple IIGS and soon-to-arrive Quantum 40Mb
hardrive.

Does anyone else use this kind of combination???

Does anyone have disk partitioning software for formatting
Mac hardisks to work on the Apple IIGS?? Any hints at all would
be great.

You don't need special software to format Mac hardisks. Any software that
formats a SCSI hard disk will work. I've got a GS, Ehman 45meg removable
cartridge HD and an Apple II High Speed SCSI card. The software that came
with the SCSI card (all of it runs under prodos 8) and it formatted and
partitioned the Ehman drive with no problems. The Ehman drive is made
specifically for the Mac, but since it's a SCSI drive, it works just fine
on my II.

RAMFast has built-in ROM disk with the software necessary to format SCSI HDs.
Partition, I think Advanced Disk Utilities program on the second System Disk
will work, still.

I've got an 80M Seagate, 3.25M RAM, and soon a RAMFast SCSI card. I'm set...
for now.
