[comp.sys.apple2] ANYONE?

alexc@pro-realm.cts.com (Alex Corwin) (08/26/90)

HI, I'M NEW HERE BUT I SURE FEEL OUTDATED. I HAVE AN APPLE II+ AND I
AM WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE DOES. I AM USING AN EPIC CLASSIC 2400 BAUD MODEM
AND ASCII EXPRESS, BUT I AM LOOKING FOR A TERM PROGRAM THAT WORK ON THE II+ IN
PRODOS.
                                        THANKS
                                        ALEX CORWIN

First, a possibly stupid question that I just thought of. Don't
you need extra memory to run ProDOS on a II+? If so, do you have it?

There was a ProDOS version of Ascii Express made.. version 4.2P
I believe... I personally think it was a poor 'port' to ProDOS but at least
it's in ProDOS.

You might actually be able to run ProTERM, an AWESOME terminal
program, if it's version 1.9 or lower.. I know 1.9 and lower worked on an
unenhanced //e, so they might work on a II+. Don't hold me to it though!

{Ascii Express was/is wonderful.. Very powerful.. ProTERM is much
easier to use though and has most of the power of AE.. In your case though
you may have no choice}

Nope!! Not a 64K Apple II+.

I disagree. I'm using Ascii Express v4.2P on an Apple II+ and it's wonderful.

Proterm is indeed "easier" to use, but it STILL refuses to use interrupts,
one of the standard features of any serial interface today. I've watched
ProTerm miss characters on a IIc, accelerated IIe, and IIgs. Ascii Express
WONT miss those characters.
