[comp.sys.apple2] GS/OS peculiarity?

In response to Larry Virden:
<I have run into what I think is either a major misunderstanding of
<terms on my part or a pecularity of the version of GSOS that I am
<running.
<I am using 5.0.2 which, as far as I am aware, is unmodified.
<I boot into the system.disk, and then eject that disk and put another
<disk in its place. I click on the new disk's icon once, and then do
<an OA-I (to get info). Of course, the system prompts me to reinsert
<the missing disk. I decide I want to 'cancel' - one of the options on
<the dialog. The box clears and then comes up again. So I insert the
>disk it requests, and, instead of cancelling, the Get Info continues.
>What does cancel mean if not cancel?
>P.S. The neat thing is that, if I put in the system.disk, click okay,
>I get another box asking for the original disk. If I click cancel there -
>again, no cancel - got to get that disk in. Then, if I put in the disk,
>I still get the Icon info box.
I left in the whole message because I feel it was important
to leave in. [just an explanation to people who wonder why people quote so
much 'unnecessary' stuff.. I'm one of those people most of the time!]

I don't have any new revelations or anything for you, but I've noticed
the same basic problem you've seen, but sometimes in different situations,
I believe.

What I've noticed is that in many cases you have to hit cancel
like 4-5 times in situations like that! [It makes me think that I'm telling
the computer "cancel... CANCEL.. YES, CANCEL.. GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!"]

It's VERY strange that it won't "accept" the cancel the first time,
but it WILL after the 4th or 5th time.

I believe I know the problem. When you hit cancel, GS/OS (which is what
asked for the disk) did indeed CANCEL. However, the "cancel" was not
passed on to the Finder. Therefore, the finder continues to try to do
the copy or get info or whatever. Eventually, after several GS/OS calls
referencing the volume, the Finder "completes" the operation and appears
to "accept" the cancel.
