[comp.sys.apple2] Apple//e Specific Questions

bill@braille.uwo.ca (Bill Carss) (09/17/90)

The following will be several questions related to the apple//e
specifically. they range in type from software related to hardware related.
For ease of answering, I thought it might be fun to number them.
Here goes...

1. I use an Apple//e with SSC in slot 2.
I am using Apple Access II v. 1.2.
I have things set such that baud = 1200.
     No parity.
     1 Stop Bit (I can't select zero).

     I primarily communicate
with a Spectrix computer (which is a UNIX system. In my .profile
we have ^h defined as "rubbout". Unfortunately, although it erases
the character from the screen it actually inserts a control character
where the unwanted character used to be. Consequently, Speckie NEVER
accepts a command in which I have made a typing mistake and attempted to
correct it. Does anyone have any ideas for fixing the problem?

2. I am looking for any kind of PD or SW software related to the following:

     Diagnostics for the //e
     Diagnostics for Hard disks
MODEM software that supports batch transfers
     ShrinkIt

3. I am looking for a reasonably priced 20 MB Hard Drive that is ProDOS
compatible and may (although not necessarily) also support CP/M,
     Pascal and DOS 3.3.

4. ANY KIND OF VIRUS SCANNING SOFTWARE!!!

5. ANY software that allows 3-D rotation of objects on the screen. I would
prefer PD ow SW, but I am interested in ANY.

6. Educational Software (preferably tutorial style), related to the
     following:

     Physics
     Electronics
     Math
     Astronomy
     Chemistry
Text Editors/Word Processors (I have AppleWriter 1.X, Format II
(ProDOS and DOS 3.3), AppleWorks 2.0, Bank Street Writer and BSW Plus,

7. Any info or documentation for a program called THE ASSEMBLER. I am
specifically interested for information relating to its syntax.

Well, I guess that is about it for now. Thanks very much in advance.

P.S. I would prefer responses in e-mail rather than articles. My address
       follows.
