[comp.sys.apple2] A SIGN FROM APPLE

RAFAEL@osu-20.ircc.ohio-state.edu (Rafael Yu) (09/18/90)

As all of us know there was a letter from Apple Comp. on Incider Mag. The
Letter actually has a lot to say and believe. They keep saying that the
Apple II market will continue to be suppoerted by Apple Comp. but instead of
telling us about new Apple II products to come they just mention stuff that
where already release long ago. So I see it as "We support the Apple II line
but don't expect nothing new from us soon".

Now, don't tell me about Apple's policies of not releasing information
about new products been develop. That to me is just garbage. They don't
mention anything about the Apple II line, everything seem to be a secret.
However, yeah, they can tell the world about two new Mac's by the end of the
year, a IIe emulation card for the Mac, System 7.0 with its new AppleShare
capabilities and so for. Whats going on here? They can created waporwares for
their loved Mac but not even something simple like "System 5.0 will be
improved" for the II line.

I wish Apple Comp. would open their eyes and see that the II market still
exist. There are many people like myself who will support them, many of you
would say, "Get a Mac or an IBM" but wait a second. If you look at the Mac or
IBM system, softwares and hardwares cost a bundle and I don't have that kind of
money. If I want a color computer, in the Mac's I would have to buy a II__
system which cost $5000+. Today, in the IBM world a VGA, 386 and 12Mhz+ is a
must that will cost $3000+ and softwares are in the 200-500 range for a decent
word processor. I'm just a student with a really low budget, I cannot go out
and spend $2000+ for a system. All I need is a computer with decent graphics,
colors, good sound, with sheap softwares for word processing and etc... Some
time powerfull enough like the IIgs for my home and personal use that would not
take me to bankruptcy.

What Apple Comp. is doing to the II line has a lot to say. If they are
doing this because, according to them, the II line has technology outdated, and
any other reason they might have. Who can assure that in 10 years from know
they would not do the same to the Mac line...

This is the opinion of a proud IIgs user
from Panama that have been involve with the
II's computer for almost 7 years....
