A question. I tried to FTP some files off of a archive, but they didn't come through right. Can anyone leave me a detailed list of how I might FTP the right way. It would help if the list would start at the beginning and follow al the way through to executing the file. I have a IIgs and Proterm. I was able to transfer the files onto my HD, but they all were transfered as text files and I couldn't do anything with them. Either post it here or mail me at smh34580@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu. Probably posting a note would be better since there are others like me outthere that want to know. Thank you. smh34580@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu . :q quit .a

What site did you get them from? If you got them from tybalt.caltech.edu then they are all text-encoded (with binscii) so you should have no problems downloading them but they will need to be decoded before you can use them. If you are trying to move a binary file around, type "binary" in FTP _before_ you issue the "get"; FTP will move the raw file without trying to interpret it as text. You can also specify binary tranfers between your acount and Proterm; I use kermit so somebody else can take that one. Hope this helps Todd Whitesel toddpw @ tybalt.caltech.edu
