8Mb.  The other 8Megs was intended to be a ROM card that got plugged into it.

Quite wrong -- the upper 8MB of the address space is in fact used in
the Apple IIGS, for the firmware among other things, and a portion of
it is accessible via the memory expansion slot.  There are memory
cards that do support adding ROM in that memory space.

Does anyone know if the Octoram is DMA compatible?
I have 2 1Meg SIMMS on it, and I was wondering if it was DMA
compatible.
