A while ago I posted a message about a device that would do the above. I received lots of feedback. In general, everybody was happy about the idea BUT wanted file transfer software for MS-DOS, thought it was overpriced, and so forth. Several people pointed out the Floptical 20 meg drives are cheaper in the long run. I agree. OEM prices on these units are as low as $250. That would price an external SCSI unit at around $350-400, much cheaper than purchasing a $200 smartport adapter and a $300-$350 high density drive. It's also faster and more suitable for backup purposes. Even more importantly, the drive would work on any SCSI compatable machine and would not rely on the IIgs to support it. Awhile ago someone (the unknown user?) was trying to get a group of people together to buy these things. I want to talk -- leave me mail.
