Hi all. I'm in need of some advice here. I've got a //e with an apple cat and 212 card and I'm trying to find some way to connect to the schools IBM mainframe. Kermit won't recognize the modem and Ascii express has no emulation. In fact, the only program I've got that will even connect properly in line-by-line mode is Com-Ware II! so i'm looking for something cheap (free?) that will allow me to connect in a full screen mode and download (and upload) files to a CMS system. any suggestions are very much appreciated. Kermit v3.86 is supposed to have a new modem driver for the Apple-CAT. Rod Eldridge GVROD @ ISUVAX GVROD @ CCVAX.IASTATE.EDU

I'll have to look, but if Proterm supports your modem it is probably a good way to go. The VT100 emulation and kermit have worked very well with all the Unix and Vax systems, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on an IBM setup. Actually it's the only modem program I've seen that doesn't mess up VT100 in some way. Both Mousetalk and Smart Term would garble my screen when running Oracle on a Vax, but not Proterm.
