This is unnecessary and heated rhetoric, but what's the problem with all these Minnesotans? Do they have some kind of inferiority complex where they need to test the network every week to make sure that their messages get past the limits of their state? Folks, this network is funded by the US government. Remember -- the one that is shutting down this morning (10/6/90) because it's out of money? Most messages, even the sarcastic bitching ones, often serve some kind of "educational" purpose. They force people to consider other points of view and defend their positions. Messages like "TEST" and "DID THIS MAKE IT TO xxxx?" serve no such purpose. Assume that the network works. If you want to test your local end at a university or other installation, then test a message on a local newsgroup, not a global one. This newsgroup already is one of the busiest. And, let's not waste a lot of bandwidth arguing about the content of this message. If you have something intelligent to say, then please add it. If not, don't just publish your agreement (i.e. copying this message and saying "Yeah, I agree" at the end).
