What GIF things are there available for the GS? I only know of GIF 3200 by Jonah Stich that only works with 320x200 pics. Is there a GIF converter out there for the GS? More important, does there exist something to convert GIFs into the 3200 pics that have been discussed of late? GIF 3200 does the 320x200x3200 color GIF conversion you mentioned. There is also SHRConvert, which is a much more general-purpose graphics converter (written by Jason Harper, I believe). It handles GIF, Atari ST, Mac, IBM, Apple II, Print Shop, and other graphics formats, and converts them to Super HiRes images. It can also go from SHR to GIF. >Thanks in Advance!! >^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ >|Jeremy Mereness | Support | Ye Olde Disclaimer: | >|jm7e+@andrew.cmu.edu (internet) | Free | The above represent my| >|a700jm7e@cmccvb (Vax... bitnet) | Software | opinions, alone. | >|staff/student@Carnegie Mellon U. | | Ya Gotta Love It. | >------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Jawaid Bazyar | Blondes in big black cars look better wearing Senior/Computer Engineering | their dark sunglasses at night. In-Reply-To: message from jm7e+@andrew.cmu.edu SHR Convert version 2.1 will handle GIF to and from SHR type graphics. Jason did a real good job on it. John MacLean's The Graphic Exchange is supposed to handle GIF files in one of the next updates (when???). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vic Shrock Charts N32-25.408 | ICBMs N32-25.419 Abilene, Texas NAD-27 W99-46.541 | WGS-84 W99-46.562 Vic@Pro-Abilink CRASH!Pro-Carolina!Pro-Abilink!Vic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SHRConvert is great in terms of how many types it can convert from... But it's slow as hell... Jonah Stitch's program is MUCH faster and will eventually hopefully be as feature-laden as SHRConvert.. I'm really into exploring what the GS can do with GIFs. Most of the time, the gifs I get off the net are 640x480 and SHRconvert truncates them and puts them in B&W 640x200 mode. I am interested in eventually getting a startup screen or a desktop pic out of one. Are there any steps that can be taken to twist GIFs around until they are good quality Apple pics? Or does one have to bite the bullet and change them by hand in a paint program (yech!) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ |Jeremy Mereness | Support | Ye Olde Disclaimer: | |jm7e+@andrew.cmu.edu (internet) | Free | The above represent my| |a700jm7e@cmccvb (Vax... bitnet) | Software| opinions, alone. | |staff/student@Carnegie Mellon U.| | Ya Gotta Love It. | -----------------------------------------------------------------------
