[comp.sys.apple2] ASIC 65816's

The biggest problem in installing the ASIC chip in a TWGS is not technical,
but legal. ASIC has supposedly signed a two year contract with some Texas
company ( I don't think it's TI :), as exclusive purchaser of its product. I
do not think that ASIC is allowed to sell chips to anyone else under the terms
of this contract. I don't think Faddell will risk a breach of contract suit if
he can help it. Of course this is just a theory based on rumours, but...

BTW The Zip GSX is apparently shipping (my sysop expects his to be mailed
Monday).

Does anyone know the absolute maximum speed that the support circuitry can
handle? 17, 25, 125MHz?

For yours, and anyone else's, Applied Engineering is a Texas based company.
I've also heard this rumor. I've also heard that it was specifically with AE.
And, I've also heard from AE that this was a bunch of BS. You decide.

Comon, what MAJOR Apple II peripheral maker is a Texas company??

APPLIED ENGINEERING! Some of the original press releases said
that they had signed a two year contract with a (paraphrased) "Texas
company that produces Apple II peripherals".

Now if that doesn't describe Applied Engineering, I don't know what
does! I -do- know that they mentioned Texas company and Apple II peripherals
together!
