Rom 01, AE GSRamPlus, Seagate 46M SCSI drive. Here's a little (possibly familiar) story: I put together my hard drive, installed scsi drivers to my system floppy, installed scsi drivers on my hard drive, and installed "latest system files" onto the hard drive. I set the startup slot to 7 (where the hard drive is), and restart. It hummmmms along for a bit, showing the red line getting longer and finally, pops into that medium blue background with the little white apple bouncing back and forth, telling me I have experienced (yet another) fatal system error 0308. If I press space while it is booting, it gives the "Welcome to the World of the GS/OS" message, then fills the screen with garbage before any modules/programs are loaded. Can someone please tell me why this (not being able to start up from the HD) would happen, although the hard drive works great to just store and run programs (once I have booted with another disk)? Is this possibly a problem with the new Apple High Speed SCSI card I just put in? (the computer's id is 7, the hd's id is 6) I have reformatted, re-installed, and re-copied everything. I even went out and got a new copy of the system (5.0.2). I asked everyone I know up here. We are all stuck. This is *very* annoying. Please help me out. A friend of mine (who is an authorized AE dealer here in Germany) found that System Software on a new Vulcan a week ago. The new features are (in brief:) True 27-pin ImageWriter LQ driver (with triple font-heigh in system folder New drivers for HP Deskjet plus and Imagewriter II from Apple! All drivers have more page formats (including lables and envelopes) New file-select Box. The "Disk" button has changed to "Volumes". When you click on it, you get a list of all volumes which you can access directly. Basic.System V1.4.1 ProDOS 8 V1.9 with new Quit-Selector 9 Tools, including the buggy TextEdit, have been revised GS/OS V3.3 is the new Version number. Dave Lyons, could you please infrom us if more obvious things have changed or if there are new features we should be aware of??? Thanks! ----> And that's a minor release???? What do you think about? Just an idea...you are letting the hard drive power up and get to speed before powering up the computer, aren't you? | | | | UUCP: crash!pro-truckstop!appleman | Still "GBBS"ing after | | ARPA: crash!pro-truckstop!appleman@nosc.mil | all these years | | INET: appleman@pro-truckstop.cts.com | "Bo knows ACOS !" | | | | [ My opinions are not my own. To the person getting the fatal system error 0308: Ah, yes, 0308. I was getting that for the longest time and called the local dealer for help several times to no avail. DON'T HOLD ME TO THIS, but if I remember correctly, my problem was that I had removed one of the FST's to save space. . . the CHAR.FST was the one in particular. Try checking them out. . . you may find your problem there. William K. Fry wkf2298@ritvax
