[comp.sys.apple2] A REAL public domain program selector...

WKF2298@RITVAX.ISC.RIT.EDU (Wonko the Sane) (10/14/90)

Well, I'm new to this list, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it already.

I've just started a users group and am working on putting together
a "group" system disk full of public domain utilities. My problem is finding
a program selector that does everything a program selector should be. In a
sense, I'm praying to the Programming god's for help. It should work on all
Apple ][s, be able to run system, binary, and basic files. It should be
returned to on Quit-Calls AND if at all possible. . . it would be really great
if it could pass loading parms to programs to load the necessary data files.
(Such as a text editor automatically loading the proper file to be edited.)
Essentially, I'm looking for a public domain ProSEL!!!

I've already tried APEX and it does not do BASIC files. 'Tried
Super-Launcher and that does not allow me to predefine "buttons" for loading.
(Oh yeah, that's another qualification. . . I can find programs to launch, but
not onces that allow me to predefine names for the files!) Of course, there
are shells, but they aren't really what I want either.
I could write my own BASIC routine, but that does not allow me to
return to the program after Quitting. . . unless someone has a way to do
that. . . that is a possibility.

If anyone has any good suggestions, please let me know. Thanks
quite muchly! :-)
