My GS is the most advanced home computer on the market, what is there to keep
up with? It has most of the hardware of a NeXt, the Toolbox of a Mac (but
cleaner), it has hooks to expand it well beyond the original specs and it has
hardware expansion through its slots. In fact it is so powerful that I see no
purpose in purchasing a Mac at all, to get the same functionality will cost me
several thousands of dollars and even more to go beyond. What I would like is
a faster machine and a multi-tasking option. UNIX might be nice (GSX?), but
that takes the GS beyond what I ue it for, general home computing.

If I had the moeny to spend on bleeding edge technology, I would be getting a
NeXTStation. It has everything I previously mentioned as lacking in my GS and
a decent price. I fail to see where a Macintosh fits in.

As far as mentally unable to keep up with advancements, I think that you too
suffer from this, you are locked in by brand loyalty. How is this different
from the system loyalty of Apple II users?

You wrote Proline for the 8-bit II's and this is arguably the best BBS
software available on any computer system, but I do not think that you are
being fair to Apple II users. There is nothing holding back the GS except
Apple and there is no reason to be doing so. I have the money to spend on new
advancements, but Apple isn't providing any, so when I do spend it will be on
an Intel based system (I expect) which does continue to advance the line.

Hwo can you call yourself an evangelist with an attitude like this? If
you have money to spend, spend it on IIGS products so that these and
more will continue to be developed. If you go off and buy Intel products,
how does that help the Apple II line? That can only further help the
II to an early demise. That's like a Christian evangelist saying
something like "Well, we haven't seen much from God lately, let's
all become Buddhists."

Come on guys/gals, just because Apple is giving up on the Apple II,
doesn't mean we have to.
