It also has an area to place a |voltage regulator (warranty voiding). It also allows the use of upgrade kits |(thru Zip Tech) to attain higher speeds and larger cache sizes (you can obtain |the parts yourself but you void the warranty). | |There is the dif. The Zipper. IS THIS GREAT OR WHAT!!!!! Oh, I probablely should've ask permission to quote the Zipper, but I don't think he'll mind. He also mentioned that the proto-type 6.25Mhz outran the TWGS. I think it was because the ZIP had more cache RAM than the TWGS. At 8Mhz it KICKS. Also, remeber how well the TWGS handled it self agaist the Mac SE (7.8Mhz)... well that this goes without saying ZIP does better. Roger Coat sells at three models. The slot based, highe-end unit is $269, less than the TWGS. Now, all we need is some VRAMs to break the 1Mhz video barrier and the GS could some very good animation/graphics. I'm ordering mine soon as I have enough money.

You say that there is a ZipChipGS+ and a ZipGSX. Is the ZipChipGS like the original ZipChips in that all they are are 65816's or are they boards like the TWGS? I would assume that the ZipGSX is a board becuase of the expandablitty -- Sameer Parekh :-) | "Censorship is the worst crime ever commited" zane@ddsw1.MCS.COM | -Sameer Parekh Censors should be shot, | "If cartoons were meant for adults they'd be shown hung, and quartered! | on prime time" --Lisa Simpson

ZipChipGS has an 8K cache and is not DMA compatible, although you can get a kit to make it DMA compatible. ZipChipGS+ has 16K of cache RAM and is DMA compatible. The ZipChipGS/+ is a square printed circuit board that plugs directly into the CPU socket. They are packaged product and no further upgrade beyond what is listed is possible or very difficult to upgrade it any further. The ZipChipGSX comes with 16K of cache RAM and expandable upto 32 or 64K of cache RAM. The board is similar in size with the TWGS and uses the same method of been in a slot and plugging a connection to the CPU socket. The board also has a place for storing the 40 pin CPU that come in the GS into the board for storage. Other features include the ablelity to solder on a voltage regulator to supplely the 6-volts needed for the WDC 8-13Mhz high speed 65816s. The board is said to be expandable up to 20Mhz. Also there are connectors for fure ture expansion... which only time will tell.
