THE INTERNATIONAL HALLEY WATCH AMATEUR OBSERVER'S BULLETIN

The first issue of the IHW amateur observer's bulletin
is out. This issue summarizes contributions that amateurs
can make to the International Halley Watch. Six areas of study
have been identified for amateur participation: visual observation,
photography, astrometry, spectroscopic observation, photoelectric
photometry, and meteor observations. The instrumentation for these
studies range from the naked eye, to large telescopes and sophisticated
electronic detectors. The point is that anyone who is willing to
make careful observations can help no matter what equipment they
may or may not have available. It is also important that
observers should begin making observations of available comets
"NOW", to develop the skills necessary to make high quality observations
when Halley arrives.
